Project 12 Police or Street? Path Chooser
A decision framework for Project 12 sessions — pick one fantasy for the hour and leave with a measurable win.
Path Chooser helps you decide police versus civilian/criminal before you queue into Project 12 on Roblox. The experience from Cinnamon X (CinnamonSoftware) released December 2, 2025, runs online multiplayer, and sells both fantasies on the same city board. Mixing them every death teaches neither radio discipline nor job routing. This tool is a thinking workflow — not an app install. Parent hub: Tools Hub. Pair it with Starter Checklist and How to Play.
Why choose before you spawn
Busy servers (often ~1.4k–2k CCU at peak Aug 2026 checks, with ~1.8M+ visits) punish indecision. Chat will pull you into random chases or random crime before you name a goal. A one-sentence contract — “I am policing downtown for ninety minutes” or “I am finishing three job routes and zero crime” — filters noise.
Step 1: Name the fun you want tonight
Ask which sentence sounds more like you right now:
- “I want presence, pursuits, and keeping the board readable.” → lean police
- “I want cash, street stories, and a heat dial I control.” → lean civilian/criminal
- “I want both forever.” → still pick one for this session; alternate tomorrow
If you cannot answer, default to the fantasy you would enjoy watching in a short clip — then deepen with Project 12 Review context if you are still unsure whether the game fits you.
Step 2: Check constraints (honest filters)
Pick police tonight if most are true:
- You can stay calm when traffic is messy
- You like structured goals more than open wandering
- You want to practice chase craft with Arrests and Chases
- You accept that other players will break laws faster than you can answer every call
Pick civilian/criminal tonight if most are true:
- You want observable cash deltas
- You like routing jobs and learning districts via Map and Locations
- You may optionally break laws — or explicitly choose zero crime
- You accept that good officers will hunt you when heat rises
Defer the session if:
- You only opened Roblox to hunt fake codes (Codes Hub still has none verified as of late Aug 2026)
- Someone is pressuring you to run executors (Scripts Safety)
- You are too tilted to follow Controls basics
Step 3: Write a one-hour contract
Use this template:
- Path: police OR civilian/criminal
- Primary metric: (example: one clean arrest assist / one full job payout / two districts walked)
- Secondary metric: (example: zero menu deaths / one escape landmark named)
- Hard stop: time or “stop while I still like the game”
- Out of bounds: no mid-hour path flipping, no scam links, no script files
Save it in a notes app. Read it once after your first death.
Step 4: Load the matching pages (not all pages)
Police stack: Become Police → Police Path → Police Path Tier List → Arrests and Chases
Street stack: Make Money → Civilian / Criminal → Jobs Tier List → Map and Locations
Shared warm-up for both: Getting Started · Controls · Beginner Mistakes
Do not open every hub “just in case.” Path Chooser exists to reduce tab chaos.
Step 5: Mid-session fork rules
Only change path mid-session if:
- Your contract explicitly said “training swap after 30 minutes,” or
- The live UI blocks your role and you need a temporary civilian loop while you re-check after a patch (Live Status)
Otherwise, finish the hour. Breadth comes from alternating days, not panic swaps.
Trade-offs in plain language
| If you choose… | You gain… | You give up tonight… |
|---|---|---|
| Police | Structure, pursuit craft, rank fantasy | Deep job routing and heat experiments |
| Civilian (legal) | Cash clarity, map memory, low drama | Badge power fantasy |
| Civilian + crime | High drama, escape practice | Calm economy focus |
None of these rows is “correct.” They are session designs.
Group / duo variant
Before stacking:
- Announce paths in chat (officer + runner is a scene; two undecided players is noise)
- Agree break-off language for chases
- Share one meetup landmark from the Map
- Ban “team scripts” as a group rule — see Scripts Hub
After likes-driven updates
The place description may still say “1000 Likes = Update!” even though the 1000 likes milestone is already passed (~1351 upVotes in Aug 2026 checks). When a patch lands, re-run Path Chooser lightly: systems may favor one fantasy temporarily. Verify with Updates Hub habits, then recommit for the next hour.
Common chooser failures
- Choosing based on chat pressure instead of fun
- Choosing “both” and learning neither
- Choosing police without skimming controls
- Choosing crime without an escape landmark
- Choosing anything while hunting impostor Discords — fix trust via Roblox Group and Discord & Group first

Path Chooser is successful when you spawn with a sentence, a metric, and a stop condition. Project 12’s city will argue with that plan — chases, jobs, arrests, escapes. Let it argue. That argument is the game.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Project 12 players.
Should I always play police?
No. Choose the fantasy you want for that hour. Alternate on another day if you want breadth.
Can I switch mid-session?
Only if your contract planned a swap or the UI blocks your role after a patch. Otherwise finish the hour.
What if my friends want the other path?
Run complementary roles (officer and civilian) or schedule separate sessions. Forcing one undecided pile helps nobody.
Does Path Chooser replace Getting Started?
No. It sits beside Getting Started and How to Play — it decides identity; those pages teach launch habits.
Is criminal play required on the street path?
No. Civilian life can be entirely legal jobs and map learning. Crime is optional risk.
