Getting Started in Project 12
A practical first-session plan for Cinnamon X’s Roblox city RP — choose a path and learn the loop fast.
Project 12 is a Roblox open-world Action / city roleplay experience from Cinnamon X (CinnamonSoftware). It released on December 2, 2025, runs online multiplayer, and asks a clean fantasy question within minutes: do you want to enforce the city as police, or live in it as a civilian who may break the law? This guide is your day-one operating manual. For a fuller both-paths session script (and the wiki’s only gameplay video), read How to Play alongside this page. It stays honest about early-game unknowns while giving you habits that still work after UI labels move.
Minute 0–5: launch hygiene
- Open the official place: Project 12 on Roblox.
- Favorite the experience so you do not land on impostor copies later.
- Join a populated server if you want social RP; a quieter server if you want to learn menus.
- Run the mental Starter Checklist once — path intent, safety, and “what am I verifying today?”
Do not stall here hunting promo codes. The Codes Hub still lists none verified as of late Aug 2026 checks. Do not install scripts; see Scripts Hub. If you are undecided on fantasy, use Path Chooser before you commit.
Minute 5–15: learn the camera and interactions
Before you chase anyone, skim Controls. City RP punishes players who discover handcuff or vehicle inputs mid-panic. Practice:
- Movement and camera comfort
- Opening the main menu without getting stuck
- Identifying interact prompts on doors, jobs, or department areas (labels vary — trust the live prompts)
If something is unclear, that is normal in a live title. The place may still show “1000 Likes = Update!” even though the 1000 likes milestone is already passed (~1351 upVotes) — see Live Status. Confirm in UI; do not invent mechanics from memory of other city games.
The core decision: police or civilian/criminal
Police path (overview)
You lean into patrol, emergencies, chase, arrest, and ranks. Read Become Police and Police Path (Players) before your first long shift. Early officer goals:
- Stay visible on a simple patrol loop
- Answer one emergency cleanly
- Complete one arrest follow-through without menu panic
- Note what rank or progression UI shows — even if names change later
Civilian / criminal path (overview)
You lean into jobs, cash, making a name, and optional lawbreaking. Read Make Money and Civilian / Criminal. Early goals:
- Complete one honest job route end-to-end
- Bank or spend with intention (do not impulse-buy everything)
- Decide whether tonight includes crime; if yes, learn escape routes on Map and Locations
- Survive one law encounter using lessons from Arrests and Chases
Pick one path for the first hour. Breadth comes on day two. Avoid the traps listed on Beginner Mistakes.
First-hour success metrics (choose three)
Good metrics are observable:
- Cash delta after a job
- Arrests or assists logged
- Districts visited intentionally (not random deaths)
- Times you opened the wrong menu (should fall)
- Whether you needed a fake code or script (should be zero)
Bad metrics: “I vibed,” “chat said I am famous,” “I tested 40 invalid codes.”
What to ignore on day one
- Long tier arguments before you have touch time — skim Tier List Hub only after one real loop
- Rumor patch notes — use Updates Hub filters
- Impersonator Discords — verify via Discord & Group and Links Hub
- Comparing every system to older city RP titles; Project 12 will differ
Social basics on busy servers
With visits on the order of ~1.8M+ (about 1.81M in an Aug 2026 check) and peak CCU often ~1.4k–2k, expect crowds. Practical rules:
- Assume other players have goals that collide with yours
- Disengage from toxic duos early
- Do not share account credentials for “whitelist” scams
- Roleplay consent matters; leave scenes that feel wrong
A sample first session (police)
- Spawn, open menus, find department/job entry points
- Short patrol rectangle near a landmark you can remember
- Take or observe one emergency
- Attempt one controlled chase only if traffic skills feel okay
- Stop while you still like the game — review what the rank UI showed
Details: Become Police, Arrests and Chases, Police Path Tier List.
A sample first session (civilian)
- Find a job board or employer NPC/UI
- Finish one full payout cycle
- Walk two districts on purpose
- Optional: low-risk mischief only after you know one escape landmark
- Log cash and heat feelings; adjust tomorrow
Details: Make Money, Jobs Tier List, Map and Locations.
After session one
- Bookmark this wiki’s Guides Hub and re-read How to Play if the first hour felt chaotic
- Recheck Live Status and Likes Milestone if you care about update timing
- Only then investigate codes with How to Redeem if an official string appears

Getting started is not about knowing every system. It is about leaving session one with a path, a metric, and zero scams. Everything else in Project 12 builds on that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Project 12 players.
Should I play police or civilian first?
Pick the fantasy you care about for that hour. Police for structure and pursuits; civilian/criminal for jobs, cash, and street stories.
Are there beginner codes?
No verified promo codes are listed yet. Do not delay onboarding for fake lists.
Is Project 12 single-player?
No. It is online multiplayer on Roblox. Plan for other players changing your scenarios.
What if menus look different from this guide?
Trust the live UI. Early games change, especially around public update milestones. Use frameworks here as habits, not rigid button names.
Where do I go after this page?
How to Play if you skipped it, then Controls, then Become Police or Make Money, then Arrests and Chases and Map and Locations.
